This week my 5 year olds and I decided we were going to start taking some line dancing lessons! We were just in Nashville, Tennessee last weekend sporting our cowgirl boots around town, so we were feeling somewhat inspired! Nashville was an inspiration of course, but there's really more to why we got started.
Last weekend, while in Nashville, Brynn asked me, "Why don't you do your workouts anymore?" Ouch! Yeah, I got called out by my 5 year old; yikes! I was shocked that she'd been paying that much attention. I really did have some good excuses, but I didn't unload them on her. I will unload them on you though! Ha!! When I started going to physical therapy for a hurt foot, I slowed down with my workouts because my foot was hurting. Good reason not to workout right? I think so. So I picked one of my at-home programs that is low to no impact and I did that. . . just not consistently like I should have. Then we started traveling a lot earlier this summer, but that's really not a valid excuse either because my workouts are portable!! Serious, this little girl made me think and her question really forced me to do some soul searching. I know kids pay attention to everything, but this was DEEP! Ok, these girls are very aware of the example I usually set, otherwise they wouldn't have noticed that I deviated from that example. So, you're probably wondering how I responded. Well, she helped me out with that too, "Mommy, I want to do a workout with you everyday and drink my superfoods with you everyday too!" She was beaming! How could I NOT commit to making sure we made this happen?? Since we returned home we've committed to working out every day together. . . at least until school starts up again in a couple of weeks. What's making this really fun though is we are in it to win it! This month, from 8-31 August we are entering a contest where $1000 are being given away every day to a family who submits a minute or less video of them having fun and working out to some country tunes! I can't say we are super into country line dancing, but we're going to try! So far it's been a fun activity to do together and we're improving. Check out our moves from the first day in our video below! If you and your family are into line dancing or you're just looking for a fun way to move, find out how HERE --> bit.ly/297kXmm
